Hey! I'm doing some photo shoots soon to get professional shots to start my portfolio, so I've been trying to come up with looks to use. I did this yesterday, contouring and everything! You know how rarely I post FOTD shots, never mind how rarely I post contoured ones. There's an eye closeup at the end too. Tell me what you think, I'd love some feedback!

Review with Look - Too Faced Shadow Insurance

This post is pretty late, sorry about that! I got TFSI last week, I was so happy when it came in the mail! I've been in need of a new eye primer and I've heard a lot about it. I was using Essence's 'I Love Stage' primer, but with long wear it caused creasing on the inner part of the eye for me. My sister uses it too and doesn't have this problem, so perhaps it depends on eye shape. It's definitely the best eye primer I've found for less than €5 though! It served me quite well while I searched for a new one. This is what the TFSI packaging looks like:
I dig the packaging, it's lovely!
This is the 'Original' TFSI primer. I ordered it from http://www.beautybay.com, and it was priced at €21.21. There are four other TFSI primers available, with different effects. They are all available on Beauty Bay, and more information on them can be found here on the Too Faced site: https://www.toofaced.com/c-111-primer.aspx. I applied it sparingly all over my lids, brow bone and lower lids, then applied shadow! The shadow went on smoothly over the primer, and didn't hinder blending. Here's the look I did:
I wore this in my FOTD #1 last week. It was inspired by one of Marayam's looks http://www.maryammaquillage.com/2012/10/daytime-smokey-with-missha-ud-naked-2.html. I didn't try to recreate it because I was stuck for time. I just remembered that the look was pretty and tried to do something similar! I toned my look down a bit though, I didn't add lashes or extend the shadow as much as Marayam. I also added thick brown liner to my top lash line, just because I thought it would look nice. I'll put a full product list at the end of the post. First let's have a look at the staying power of TFSI. Check out this picture taken five hours later:
It looks exactly the same as when it was applied! Really impressed so far! I tested it even further. This picture was taken twelve hours after application:
I'm sorry that the picture is a little blurry. The shadow has stayed incredibly well for twelve whole hours! No creasing or smudging either. As I said earlier I had problems with creasing on the inner third of the eye when using the Essence primer. TFSI protected against that extremely well! I can't compare it to another high end primer, this is the first one I've had, but I am very impressed with it. I would happily recommend this primer to anyone, it was worth every cent!

FOTD #1

Hey! It's gonna be a short one today unfortunately. It's really late and I have to go out of town tomorrow so I have to pack and stuff before I go to bed. Today I did a full face of makeup, so I photographed it and it will be my first FOTD post! :)

I even brushed my hair. I know it doesn't look it, but I totally did. Here's the deal with the eye look. I'm going to feature it it my next post because I used this look to test the Too Faced Shadow Insurance that I got in the mail today (yay!). I'll go into more detail about the application and shadows in that post while I review TFSI. I hope that's cool with you guys!

Urban Decay Naked 2 palette - Review with look!

Last Friday I was in town, and there was 10% off all cosmetics at Debenhams. I normally dodge that place because I'll spend all of my money, but I ended up there through no fault of my own and the Urban Decay counter caught my eye. Mostly because I knew where it was and I wanted to see, so I looked. I'd wanted one of the Naked palettes for a long time, so I thought screw it, now's as good a time as any. I got it for €36.45, reduced from €40.50 which is a real steal!

I chose the Naked 2 palette. More of the colours appealed to me than in Naked. Here are some photos!
Outer packaging
I really like the packaging, it's tin so you know your shadows are going to be quite safe in there! Also, the opening grooves are deeper and longer which gives you a good grip, and you don't have to pull hard to open it, so you never feel like it'll fly out of your hands.

The insides!
The palette consists of twelve shadows, a mirror, and a double ended 'Good Karma' brush. There's a good dense shadow brush on one end, and a crease brush on the other. I really like the shadow brush, it works really well, but I'm not too keen on the crease brush. I'll use it a bit more and see how it goes, but the bristles are longer than I'm used to for a crease brush, and it's a bit stiffer than I'm used to for a blending brush. The shadows look great. There is a good range of shades and finishes. You're spoiled for choice!

Take a closer look:

Swatched over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy, I wanted to bring out the best in the shimmers:

Half Baked, Chopper, Snakebite, Suspect
Pistol, Verve, YDK, Busted

These I swatched over NXY White base:

Foxy, Bootycall, Tease, Blackout
You can barely see Foxy, it's really close to my skin colour. My lids are dark enough though so it will be useful for me. The colour payoff with these is great, they're really pigmented. Lots of them are sparkly and shimmery and they look great! There are a few that have more of a satin finish (e.g. Bootycall, Busted), and some mattes too. I'm sure you can do a lot of different looks with this palette, I can't wait to really get into it! If you're a fan of neutral shades definitely pick up this palette, or its predecessor. They're good for the price considering the number of colours, quality of the shadows and range of finishes.

I don't actually have a huge deal of experience working with natural shades, which is why I wanted to get a Naked palette. It's something that I need to learn. I have the Sleek 'Au Natural' palette and I'm fond of that, but they're all mattes. I'm getting the hang of them and I do like them, but I wanted to try some shimmery natural shades.

I did one look with this palette which is kind of a mess to be honest. I shouldn't really have put shimmer with shimmer, and highlighted with more shimmer, lol :) I was excited and they were very shiny. I'll post a picture of it here anyway so you can have a good laugh, but I'll work it out and come up with something good to show you in the future!

Half Baked, YDK and Verve

  • Maybelline - Master Smokey Eye pencil - Smokey Chocolate
  • Maybelline - Scandal Eyes waterproof pencil - Bronze
