Another Face #5 - Niamh

Hey!

I did more practice makeup last night, this time on my friend Niamh :) I did a full face of makeup again with contouring. She wanted something sort of natural which is just as well because I think I'm done with my colourful phase for now! I'd never worked on Niamh before, but she was lovely to work on. She has evenly spaced eyes that are a little on the small side, small/standard eyes. I wanted to try a couple of eye enlarging techniques I saw recently. Curling the lashes and smudging kohl liner on the upper lash line to define and extend the eye, as well as placing more mascara on the outer lashes to open the eyes up more. I didn't use nude liner though, I didn't want it to seem too much like a daytime look.

This was sort of a test run for makeup I'm doing for Jordan today. She's going to a fancy ball and is looking for a nude look. Super sophisticated! I did up a nude cut crease already and I'll show her this one too. I want to use taupe shadow on Jordan to make her blue eyes stand out, so I tried this on Niamh too.

I didn't take before shots again because I forgot. Here are the after shots.

Amazing lower lashes!! :O

I'll be working on Niamh more in the future, hopefully often enough! Here's a product list, I'm off to do more makeup. Busy busy!  See you soon >_^

Neo Sunflower Aqua Lens Review

Hey!

I love coloured contacts, and I have a good few pairs but I don't wear them often enough. I buy yearly disposable ones so they last a long time, but I think I should start using them a lot more than I do. Today I'm reviewing Neo Sunflower Aqua. I've had them for a while but only worn them a handful of times. This is what they look like on me.

I got them on honeycolor.com for $24. They are 14.2mm diameter so they're only slightly enlarging. They look nice though, I really like how they look in my eyes. They look a little more natural in dimmer lights when my pupils are more dilated. They don't look unnatural in size but this aqua shade is quite bright. I think these lenses in other colours could look quite natural, I'll have to get some more and find out :D

They're yearly disposable and came with a free case. They're quite comfortable! I wear them for long periods of time without needing to remove them. They dry out, but not too often. I use a dry eyes mist to help with that so it's not much of a problem. These lenses are also available in green, blue, violet, grey, brown and hazel! Check them all out here. I'll leave you with a product list in case any of you were wondering about the makeup! See you soon, expect more lens reviews :)

Another Face #3 - Keelin #2

Hey guys! My friend Keelin called round last night, she cooked us a super tasty dinner and then I did her makeup! It's another colourful and dramatic look. This time when she left mine she was going to a cousin's party in a house, so I laid off the glitter. Plenty of shimmer instead! I used some loose shadows by The Body Needs again, I had such fun with them on Thursday. I'm so happy that Keelin allows me to do dramatic looks on her. Some people can be really scared of trying new looks.

Practicing on other people is helping me to improve my skill a lot. Keelin has different shaped eyes to me so I'm learning what sort of shadow placement suits her eye shape best by working on her. I feel like I'm able to apply makeup on someone else just as well as I am able to apply it to myself which is a big deal for me. When I took the makeup class I once did I had no idea to apply makeup to someone else, and I hadn't used brushes much. Needless to say I struggled for a bit, but now I'm feeling so much more confident. Here's the before and after shot, followed by some eye closeups and a product list. See you soon!

Blackened Teal

Hey! I've been using a lot of palettes lately so I thought it would be nice to use some loose shadows for a change. I did today's look using some loose shadows by The Body Needs. They're one of my favourite brands, I have a ton of their glitters, blushes and shadows. Definitely check them out! The most prominent shade in this look is Blackened Teal. It's available alone or as part of the Blackened Collection, which contains ten shades. I swatched them before, check them out here. It's an incredible collection, especially if you're into smokey looks. See you soon, I hope you like my look!

Another Face #2 - Keelin

Tonight my friend Keelin called over and I did her makeup before she went out! She was going to a gig so I did colourful, dramatic party makeup with glitter.

Before, wearing only foundation

After

Both of those photos are unedited, just cropped. I think I did ok! I don't get to work on other people as often as I'd like so it's kind of hard to tell how I'm doing, but I like how the makeup came out. Still, I feel more confident working on people than I used to. Hopefully I'll get to work on Keelin some more in the future >_^ Do some different kind of looks and stuff. Let me know in the comments what you think of this look! I know it's pretty crazy but it's night out makeup, and glitter is so much fun! Here are some more photos and a product list, see you soon!

Review and FOTD #4 - Sleek Respect

Hello!

I recently picked up the Sleek PPQ Shangri-la collection. It consists of two eyeshadow palettes, 'Supreme' and 'Respect'. Today I'm reviewing only the 'Respect' palette. Also included in the collection are both 'Truly Mattely Deeply' matte lip colours, 'Jazz' and 'Soul'. I've tried using them but my lips are in bad condition and I can't pull off mattes right now :( I have the dry, flaky lips of a corpse. I'm taking a few days to get them in better shape before I review. The whole collection is priced at €25, which is a bargain. Great gift idea for a family member or friend too! You can have a look at it on the Sleek site here http://www.sleekmakeup.com/ppq-collection-complete. This is Respect:

Outer Box
Palette
Shadows!

The outer packaging is lovely on this one. Sleek recently changed the look of their i-Divine palettes, they made their logo smaller and it looks much tidier. Unlike the other palettes I have, this one has gold writing on it too. Perhaps because it's limited edition but I'm not sure! Here are some swatches:

Gladys White, James Brown, Shalamar, Count Basi Beige, Aretha Orange, Otis Red
Roberta Black, Vandellas, Cameo Cream, Motown Mink, O'Jays, New Jack Pink

Some of the lighter colours don't show up all that well on my skin, I'm very pale. The shadows are good quality, typical of Sleek palettes. 'Respect' contains mostly warm colours, some matte, some satin and some shimmery. There's a great range of colour combinations here, you can make a ton of different looks with this. Here's one that I did!

I used 'Count Basi Beige', 'Aretha Orange' and 'O'jays' on the lid. I blended up towards the brow with 'New Jack Pink' and 'Gladys White' above that. On the brow bone and inner corner I added some of The Body Needs loose shadow in 'Iced Red'. The shadows are really nice to work with, they blend great and the colour payoff is good! I like this palette, there are some unique shades and an endless range of looks you can create. I think this color scheme in this palette would look particularly awesome on darker skin tones! Here's how I finished the look:

I stuck with warm colours for the lips and blush too. I entered this look in the 'Bright' category for Viola's Maddstyle contest which I mentioned before, you can read about it here: http://rodeo.net/killercolours/2012/11/03/contest-neutral-or-bright-win-prices-from-maddstyle-cosmetics/. I'll leave you with a couple more photos and a full product list. See you soon for the 'Supreme' palette review!

The Powerpuff Girls - Bubbles

A few months ago I did a look inspired by Blossom. You can see the it here on my Makeupbee page: http://bit.ly/XnPS4v. I was planning to do looks for all three Powerpuff Girls, but I didn't get round to it for a while and then it slipped my mind for another while. Yesterday I remembered and did a look inspired by Bubbles.

I was going to do something cute and innocent, but Bubbles can be hardcore too so I made it a little darker. Her dress is blue which is the prominent colour I chose for the look. Here are some more pics and the product list!

FOTD #2 - Vice Palette Look

Hello! I finally found time to do a look with the Vice Palette! Viola at http://rodeo.net/killercolours/ is doing a MaddStyle cosmetics giveaway, and I'm trying to come up with looks to enter in either or both categories; neutral and bright. Four MaddStyle shadows are up for grabs in each category! You can find more details here: http://rodeo.net/killercolours/2012/11/03/contest-neutral-or-bright-win-prices-from-maddstyle-cosmetics/I decided that first I'd try a neutral look:
The contest is open until November 30th so I have some time to try some other looks out before I decide what to submit. I kept this look really soft and feminine, it might make a pretty nice bridal look too. I didn't contour or anything for this one, I'd probably add that if I were to redo it to submit it for the contest! I hope you guys like it. I spent a lot of time on blending, it's something I'm trying to work on at the moment. It needs some improvement! Here's a closeup of the eye makeup:

FOTD #1

Hey! It's gonna be a short one today unfortunately. It's really late and I have to go out of town tomorrow so I have to pack and stuff before I go to bed. Today I did a full face of makeup, so I photographed it and it will be my first FOTD post! :)

I even brushed my hair. I know it doesn't look it, but I totally did. Here's the deal with the eye look. I'm going to feature it it my next post because I used this look to test the Too Faced Shadow Insurance that I got in the mail today (yay!). I'll go into more detail about the application and shadows in that post while I review TFSI. I hope that's cool with you guys!

Look - Glitter Glam

Hey people!
I wanted to share this look I did yesterday. There's a contest on Makeupbee at the moment by Lit Cosmetics, and I submitted this as an entry.

This is the first time I've used glitter on my lids. I have a good bit of eye safe glitter but I don't use it as much as I should! I think I did okay with the application. I probably could have applied some more actually. I wanted it to sort of blend out at the outer corner. There are a couple of parts I missed, that you can see when the eye is closed. I've been working on my shaping and blending too.  I have a tendency to over-blend and everything ends up smokey!

Here's the list of products that I used:

  • Essence 'I Love Stage' eye primer
  • Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy
  • The Body Needs - Heliotrope
  • The Body Needs - Steal The Night
  • The Body Needs - Hot Pink (glitter)
  • The Body Needs - Iced Pink
  • Sugarpill - Tako
  • NYC Liquid Liner - Pearlized Black
  • Essence Kajal Pencil - Black
  • NYX Candy Glitter Liner - Hot Candy
  • Bourjois Volumizer Mascara
  • Essence Eyebrow Designer - Brown

I love glitter, I'll be using it a lot more from now on! It's so pretty ^_^
I'll leave more pictures below, and here's the link for this look on Makeupbee if you'd like to give it some luv! https://www.makeupbee.com/look.php?look_id=64235&qbt=userlooks&qb_lookid=64235&qb_uid=35317

Favouritism: The Body Needs

As you may have noticed (I hope you've noticed!), I now have an ad on my blog, underneath the 'Follow' gadgets. It's for The Body Needs, and I'm so proud to be an affiliate of theirs! I'm very fond of their products, and I'd like to direct any new customers that I can to their site. I've made four orders from The Body Needs in as many months, since I discovered them through Jangsara's blog. The company is run by Cheryl and Grant, and they've been delivering fantastic cosmetics to the world since 2005.

Their products are fast becoming a favourite of mine. Their Under Eye Concealer is a staple in my makeup routine, and I frequently visit their site, planning for my next purchase. Their Mineral Eye Shadows specifically just wow me. I mean, I actually say 'wooooow' when I swatch some of them for the first time, they never fail to impress me. all I've only purchased loose shadows so far, but they do crush pots (pressed pans) too. And they're hypoallergenic! My latest order contained 'The Blackened Collection' (pictured below). It's a set of ten loose shadows, available in either .6g or 1.5g pots. I got the .6g pots, since loose shadows last me forever and you only need to use a little of TBN's well pigmented shadows. I've also purchased the 'Eye Candy Collection', a set of beautiful bright shadows, and the corresponding 'Eye Candy Gel Liner Collection'.*

Swatched over Fyrinnae Pixie Epoxy: Blackened Teal, Blackened Navy,
Blackened Blue, Blackened Turquoise, Blackened Emerald
Blackened Iridescence, Blackened Gold,
Blackened Bronze,Blackened Violet, Blackened Maroon

I also got some lip luster in my most recent order. I've seen them on the site and been eager to try them for some time. I ordered three different shades - 'Cloyingly Coral', 'Coralberry' and 'Tokyo Pink' (pictured below). My favourite of these is 'Coralberry'. It's just a gorgeous colour that lasts for hours. It's a little more sheer than the other two I have. 'Cloyingly Coral' has a nice satin finish, with great colour payoff. 'Tokyo Pink' is the craziest! It's such an intense pale pink, I love it. These lip lusters have great lasting power, and don't dry out my lips. I'll be collecting more of these!

Coralberry, Cloyingly Coral, Tokyo Pink

Do they stock blush? Hell yes. They do both loose and pressed blush. They carry some of the boldest shades I've come across, along with some softer, more muted colours. I've collected several at this point. Mostly the ones I have are a little shimmery, just a couple of matte shades.
I have a number of TBN glitters too. They do eye safe glitters that they come in pretty much any colour you could imagine, and they've got some fantastic looking gel glitters. They're so unique and pretty. They also have a range of body glitters, but I currently don't have use for body glitter and so haven't yet tried any. I got one of the gel glitters recently in 'Avalanche', I'm very excited about this one and I'm currently thinking of how to integrate it into an awesome look to show it off.

TBN satisfies my not-so-inner bargain hunter, big time. There are regular sale item rotations, not to mention the 1c sample. I've picked up three different samples, each of them glitter. They're an actual steal. I mean, I almost felt bad that I got them each for one American cent. That's even less than one European cent. Pure madness. I've only scratched the surface of the range of products they offer, so I highly recommend you check out the website: http://www.thebodyneeds2.com/?Click=21893

Finally, The Body Needs sports the reassuring 'Cruelty Free' logo on their site, and the majority of products are vegan certified. Really, what's not to love about them? <3

*
I just realised how much of a consumer I am when it comes to makeup, and I'm pretty comfortable with that.
